Police sources say the NYPD sergeant who survived the shooting in the Bronx served on Staten Island for about 5 years.

Sources say Sgt. Emmanuel Kwo was with the 122 precinct in 2008 through 2013 and then moved to the 121 precinct for about a year.

Police say the 30-year-old was shot in the leg after responding to a 911 call Friday with 41-year-old Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo.

They say the shooting happened before 3 p.m. Friday.

Police say they got a 911 call that 35-year-old Manuel Rosales forced his way into an apartment where his estranged wife and their 3-year-old son were.

Another woman in the apartment called police and said Rosales fled in a red SUV.

Police say Rosales stopped his car, and fired upon the sergeants when they approached.

The officers were rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where Sgt. Tuozzolo, a father of two young children, died.

Kwo has been released from the hospital.

Rosales was killed in the shootout with police.
