BEACON, N.Y. -- Inspiration for where to eat can come from anywhere, like a billboard or even a movie and if you're a fan of Federico Fillini movies, then there is a spot in Beacon that may just be your next destination.

"In Beacon I've been for nine years," Cafe Amacord Owner and Head Chef Rifo Murtovic said. "Opened in 2007. I had some restaurants in the city and New Jersey. It's a little be done like a movie. 'Amarcord' which is Fellini's movie and the colors are picked actually from that movie, in this restaurant. Also the design of the dishes that we served."

At this restaurant, the idea is to incorporate a worldly menu, but made with local ingredients.

"I have a menu that is very small and I'm calling it a new American, but has a lot of Italian flare in there, in the menu," Murtovic said. "Trying to combine some dishes that my mother used to make or I was having it in other places around, but I give it my own twist. The food is fresh from small companies, trying to buy mostly from the farms here around. Just to be unique and people can taste something unusual and good."

Depending on when you go, there will be a few new dishes to try each time.

"Mostly people like here every time they come is going to be a new dish and a couple new dishes," Murtovic said. "Every week my special change. I have two appetizer, two pasta, and two main courses. You're never going to be disappointed with same dish that is going to run for such a really long time. My dishes are weekly, three days, four days. I don't buy a big amount. I'm not scared to run out."

So whether you're stopping by for lunch or a romantic dinner, the staff hopes you'll find something there that you can't find anywhere else.

"I really want them to experience service, food," Murtovic said. "I want them to experience everything this restaurant can give to them that maybe another restaurant isn't giving them. At the end of the night of the night say goodbye, shake my hand, and say that it was everything wonderful."
