NATIONWIDE -- In a new trailer, we're getting our first look at Tom Hanks as hero pilot Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger.
"Sully" is the story of the pilot who performed an emergency water landing of a U.S. Airways flight in the Hudson River back in 2009. This comes after the plane's engines were taken out due to bird strikes. The plane was originally headed to Charlotte.
The 155 passengers and crew members onboard U.S. Airways Flight 1549 were rescued.
The event was dubbed the "Miracle on the Hudson."
The film also focuses on the aftermath of the landing, and the various probes and tribunals that put Sullenberger under the microscope.
The movie is based on Sullenberger's memoir "Highest Duty" and is directed by Clint Eastwood.
"Sully" lands in U.S. theaters on Sept. 9.
