A microburst that hit the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon toppled trees and damaged cars, officials said.
Top winds were estimated at between 60 mph and 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Officials say the storm hit Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. The winds caused significant damage when trees fell onto cars and along streets and sidewalks near Bay Ridge Parkway.
The winds knocked down a tree trunk in front of a Bensonhurst home, and multiple agencies, including the FDNY and NYPD, responded to the scene to make sure no one was trapped. Officials say only one person suffered a minor injury.
There were also some power outages in the neighborhood, according to the FDNY.
