Get ready for an arctic blast as cold air moves in for Thanksgiving. Expect below normal temperatures today with a high of 47. There could be a few morning showers, which will give way to mostly cloudy skies and gusty winds.

Skies will clear out tonight with temperatures dipping near freezing. Temperatures will continue to fall below normal tomorrow with a high of 41 and a low of 20 degrees. There is also a slight chance of a few snow showers later in the day. Finally, this could be the coldest Thanksgiving Day on record with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens.

This would be the coldest Thanksgiving since 1901(26 for a high temp). The last Thanksgiving where temperatures didn’t get to freezing was 1996.  In addition to the cold on Thursday, strong winds are in store. Gusts over 30mph are possible. Balloons will be flying lower than usual and some balloons could be grounded. If there are sustained winds of more than 23mph or gusts of more than 34mph, the balloons will be grounded.

Temperatures will begin to rebound on Black Friday with highs returning to the 50s by the weekend. We’re also tracking rain late Saturday into Sunday.
