Yellow cab ridership in the city is on the decline.
According to the Taxi and Limousine Commission, riders took an average of more than 371,000 daily trips in June. That's down 10 percent from the same time last year and down 26 percent from June of 2012.
The TLC also says yellow taxis on city streets were occupied 46 percent of the time between 2014 and 2015, down from 50 percent in 2012.
The head of the New York Taxi Alliance tells the Wall Street Journal that drivers are struggling with ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft on the rise.
