Aspiring designers are learning the ins and the outs of the fashion business.
The BKLYN Fashion Academy is a 12 week intensive for artists to dive into the fashion world. For the past few weeks, 15 Brooklyn designers have been learning from industry experts.
They have also been working to put together their own creations for a few hours each week at the Brooklyn Public Library, which runs the program.
Lynnsie Augustin te Outreach Specialis at the Brooklyn Public Library Business and Career Center says "teaching them how to actually move forward and turn that into a business, whether it's retailing, wholesaling or just opening up a boutique on their own is invaluable information."
Instead of a traditional cap and gown graduation, the designers will put on a fashion show with their creations that will be displayed in the lobby of the Central Library on May 11th.
