2024 was the year of women in sports.
The New York Liberty took the women’s basketball world by storm when they won their first WNBA Championship.
Also, WNBA star, Caitlin Clark, was named Time’s “Athlete of the Year” last week.
Now the city’s first Professional Women’s Hockey team is hoping to keep the momentum alive. In their second season, the New York Sirens are welcoming a new coach, new players, and new fans who are getting ready to cheer them on.
The Sirens home rink is the Prudential Center and is one of six teams in the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
Sirens goaltender Corinne Schroeder joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday to discuss her experience on the team, and the recent peak in interest for women’s sports.
