The city’s Administration for Children’s Services has altered its mission in recent years to focus more on family support than it did in the past.
The reason for this shift was that many families had said that ACS was too intrusive and too heavy-handed in their lives.
But whistleblowers have said as ACS tried to address those concerns, it took too hard of a turn in the other direction and is no longer helping children who need serious help.
Councilmember Althea Stevens, who chairs the Committee on Children and Youth, which oversees ACS, joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday to talk more about the agency.
