Edward Caban announced early Thursday that he is resigning as commissioner of the country’s largest police department.

Caban’s resignation comes a week after news broke that federal investigators had seized his cellphone in one of multiple federal probes into high-ranking officials in Mayor Eric Adams’ administration.

Adams named Tom Donlon as Interim Police Commissioner. Donlon ran the Joint Terrorist Task Forces and is the former director of the New York State Office of Homeland Security. Donlon is the third person to lead the NYPD in Adams’ first three years in office.

Raymond Kelly, former NYPD Commissioner, who served under both former Mayor David Dinkins and Michael Bloomberg, joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday for an exclusive interview.

Kelly talks to NY1 anchor Annika Pergament on how Caban’s resignation will affect the NYPD and offers his advice for the interim commissioner.
