Randall’s Island Park, one of the city’s most picturesque spots, is now a site with tent structures, litter and crime.

Park workers say that the waterfront took a big hit when it opened up as a migrant shelter last year. Security has also been stepped up “in and around” the island’s migrant shelter, following the stabbing of a 26-year-old man over the weekend.

Mayor Eric Adams was asked what he plans to do, and he said, ”We don’t want to be heavy-handed. we don’t want to be to be insensitive. It’s about finding out what the resources are needed and navigating people there as we deal with this humanitarian crisis that we are facing right now."

Diana Ayala, deputy speaker of the New York City Council and representative of the 8th District, joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday to discuss the park.
