The Academy of American Poets established National Poetry Month in 1996 to showcase American poets and honor the literature in April.

Reginald Dwayne Betts, a poet, lawyer and the founder of Freedom Reads, joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday to discuss literature.

Freedom Reads is an organization that builds libraries in prisons all over the country.
