Health officials are alerting doctors to be on the lookout for rare but serious bacterial infections that are on the rise in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released a new health alert warning about a strain of bacteria that causes meningitis.

It is an invasive and deadly disease that is unusually striking middle-aged adults.

Dr. Susannah Hills, a surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, joined “The Rush Hour” on Monday to talk about the infection and the warning signs to be aware of.
