Earlier this week, Mayor David Dinkins passed away at his home on the Upper East Side. Dinkins made history when he was inaugurated on January 1, 1990, as New York City’s first Black mayor. As New Yorkers remember Dinkins, we wanted to revisit our podcast special which originally aired in January:
With the help of some of David Dinkins’ closest advisers and Dinkins himself, Errol explores the Mayor’s journey from the Manhattan Borough President’s Office to his successful campaign facing longtime incumbent Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani.
Also check out parts two and three, which focus on Dinkins’ four years in office, his loss to Rudy Giuliani in 1993 and his legacy today.
