On the season debut of Covering The Bases WooSox outfielder and top Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony discusses his hot start to the 2025 season. "Yeah I’m feeling great. We got a great squad. I think last week was great for us. Saw what we did with the bats last week and got five great wins. I think we’re rolling here, I’m feeling great. I think everyone, as a whole we’re feeling pretty locked in. So it’s been fun."

The talk of Red Sox fans is when will Anthony make his major league debut. Anthony, who will turn twenty-one on May 13th, has been trying to remain focused on the field. "I think for me just trying to stay off of social media as much as I can and handle what I handle at the field and when I go home, again just try to stay off of it and…it’s inevitable though. You hear a lot about it but I think just being where you’re feet are and being present. A lot of people want to know when you’re going to debut and want to know things that I don’t even know."

The questions about being called up to the majors are not being asked solely regarding Anthony. WooSox teammate and roommate Marcelo Mayer is also one of the top prospects in the Red Sox system. Anthony said it helps having someone close deal with the pressures of being called up to The Show. "Yeah it’s awesome. I think, I’ve been lucky in my whole pro career always being around guys, like last year being around (Kyle) Teal as well and (Kristian) Campbell, like it’s not just me. Again being around guys like Vaughn (Grissom), guys who have been in similar situations or are in similar situations as we are. We have a lot of those guys here. So, obviously living with Marcelo it makes it easy to be with him and go through it together but then you come to the field and you’re with a good amount of guys who could be in the same position we’re in. You know they could be up or whatever it may be but it makes it easier just knowing that we’re all grinding here and we all have the same goal and we all want to get there as fast as we can."
