Rookie head coach Keith Urgo always brings the energy to practice when the Fordham University men's basketball team takes the court at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx.

The historic gym has become known as "Rose Thrill."

What You Need To Know

  • The Fordham University men's basketball team finished the regular season with a 24-7 overall record

  • That is the most overall wins for the Rams since the 1990-1991 season

  • The Rams are the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball tournament at Barclays Center in Brooklyn

  • If the Rams win the conference tournament, they get an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament

And this year has been quite the thrill for the Rams, who finished the regular season with a 24-7 overall record and 12-6 conference record, the most overall wins for the team since the 1990-1991 season.

They are the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball tournament at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, but Urgo — who was named the 2023 Atlantic 10 coach of the year earlier this month — says his team cannot rest on their regular season laurels.

"When you go into your conference tournament, it's 0-0. Nobody cares about what you did. The bottom line is you start from scratch. Everybody has an opportunity," Urgo said.

While it has been a special season for the Rams, the players know all eyes need to be looking ahead.

"We're ready for whoever it is we are playing, so we are focusing on ourselves right now, and if we just stick to the game plan, we will be good to go," Khalid Moore, a graduate forward from Elmont, said.

Moore played high school basketball at Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens.

While playing at Barclays Center is technically not a home game, it is close enough for Fordham. The Rams hope their fans will travel across a few boroughs into Brooklyn.

"We are definitely feeling great about it. I feel like the fans are going to show up in bunches for us, and we are definitely going to give them a show," graduate guard Darius Quisenberry said.
