It was a slow start for France.

But then the team caught up — tying the score 2-2 toward the end of full time.

In the second half of extra time, Messi scored again to give Argentina the lead, only to be matched by France 10 minutes later.

By the end of extra time, it was still tied — sending it to penalty kicks where Argentina came out victorious.

Fans at Felix, a French restaurant in Soho, had their eyes glued to the television the entire time.

Felix was filled with a lot of fans who cheered on France, and who were eventually upset by the results of the game.

“I grew up there and lived here for about five years and I thought we had them after two comebacks like that,” Alex Pailhoux, a France fan, said.

“I feel really sad, Viva La France Mbappe is the best,” Annais Femano said.

Going into the game, fans said they were very confident about the team.

“The French, it’s just beautiful football, it’s elegant,” Yasem Khelifa said.

“The French team has always been great there’s Mbappe,” Juanita Gilmore said. “The goalie is fantastic.”

The Argentina fans were far and few between, but the ones who were at Felix were ecstatic.

“Messi scored the winning goal, and I was so happy,” Christian Metlege said.

This is Argentina’s third time winning the World Cup — its first since 1986.

Its superstar, Messi, not only won the gold for the team but also the golden ball, an award for the most outstanding player of the whole World Cup.
