TAMPA, Fla. — It's that time of year when it seems like anything is possible in the coming season. There is hope, and no games have been won or lost. A clean slate.

“The goal is win the World Series, so we work really hard right now and try and get everyone on the same page and play really well,” said Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres.

With spring training in full swing for the Bronx Bombers in Tampa, Florida, the goal is always returning to the World Series, to win a 28th World Title. The Pinstripers haven't been to the Fall Classic since 2009. They have made the playoffs the past five seasons, but fallen short, including their elimination last year in the Wild Card Game to their arch rivals, the Boston Red Sox.

"For me, it's getting back on the field and winning,” said Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks.

Coming off the 99-day lockout of players by Major League Baseball owners, there is even more urgency to prepare for the coming season, starting with the home opener in the Bronx on April 7 against, you guessed it, the Red Sox.

Manager Aaron Boone talked about welcoming back his team after the more than three-month-long work stoppage.

"It sounds corny, but we are family. You go so much as a group and now, right back into it knowing we are going to be together eight months or so, and it was a little emotional getting up there and getting to address them as their manager," Boone said.

So with a little more than three weeks to get ready, there's one goal in mind. Slugger Giancarlo Stanton wants to take it all. He said he is tired of coming up short.

"When you don't get the past few years the frustration builds so we got a lot of time on our hands a lot of time to work and get that process going and it's a matter of executing when we need to,” said Stanton.

Executing and satisfying a fan base that is starved for another crack at a World Series victory.
