The Yankees and Mets may be in different leagues but they still have an established rivalry.

Part of what keeps the rivalry going is the annual “Subway Series” between the teams, which is now in its 25th year.

The “Subway Series” also revives a rivalry between friends and family members, who don’t always support the same team.

That was the case for a group of six young men who came to Yankee Stadium together for the game.

All but one young man was wearing Mets team apparel.

“We don’t know him. We’re just acquaintances for tonight,” said John Scott, a Mets fan, of his friend Arturo Galliano, a Yankees fan.

The Subway Series can test all kinds of relationships.

With both teams based out of stadiums in the same city, it’s easy to find fans for both the Mets and Yankees across the five boroughs.

NY1 also found that there are some households that are split over which team they support.

While some cited season statistics as the reason they support either the Yankees or Mets, there were others who choose to be at odds with their family members because they like to be different.

That’s the case for Isabella D’Introno and her brother, Nicholas.

“I like to go against him,” said Isabella D’Introno of why she supports the Yankees while her brother roots for the Mets.

NY1 found fans who said that they would never support a different team, even if family or friends encouraged them too.

But, there were others who have taken on the team of a spouse, to keep the peace.

“She used to be a Yankees fan but she converted for me,” said Mets fan Charlie Windsor of his wife.

“You know as I got older I just saw the light and the Mets was the way to go, I think. I think i made the right decision,” said Jolene Windsor.

Fans will still get a chance to root on whichever team they support as the subway series is scheduled to continue on Saturday and Sunday.
