NY1 VIDEO: 'I Got it Made' was the right title for rapper Special Ed's first single. It quickly shot up the music charts for the teen who wasn't even old enough to get a driver's license when he recorded the catchy rap.

The aptly named 'Youngest in Charge' was his first Album. It also had the hit, 'I'm the Magnificent'.

And he must have been, because record labels were interested in signing the Jamaican kid from Brooklyn to a recording deal.

But his age was definitely an issue for the companies.

When he started recording in the late 80's, there were several big name rappers already on the scene who he looked up to.

"At that time who I was really was into as artists would be like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, EPMD, Run DMC of course, prior was like Whodini," the rapper said.
