He lead his team to a 2022 championship, which was the first time in 35 years.  

Salerno’s academic achievements align with his fencing record. He carries a 96% average.

“It’s worth more than any trophy, it’s worth more than any award, because it’s people I’m helping, not myself,” he said.

He credits much of his success to his upbringing.  

Salerno’s family has been a support system throughout his journey.  

“They are the most important thing I have. They have also pushed me to get to this point, and in some cases, you could say I kind of owe it all to them,” he said.

Salerno is deciding on a school for the upcoming year. No matter where he lands, he said he will continue his commitment to working hard and helping others.
