Others in the area believe the Bronx train attack may have been an isolated incident.

“That was probably just part of some minor miscommunication,” local resident Jairo Diaz said.

The Bronx stabbing happened just hours after a stabbing at the 36th Street station in Queens.

Police said a man got into a dispute with a woman aboard an F train that escalated into a fight just before 1:30 a.m.

While transit crime is down overall so far this year compared to last year, according to the latest figures from the NYPD, transit crime in the 40th Precinct, where the Bronx stabbing occurred, is up about 27% year to date.

“In the past couple of months it’s been increasing with the crime in the transit system,” Stuckey said.

According to police, a knife was found at the scene of the Queens subway stabbing and charges for the suspect in that incident are pending.
