A 14-year-old boy has died after falling off a subway train in Queens Thursday night, the NYPD said.
According to police, the teenager fell off a 7 train in the vicinity of Queens Boulevard and 33rd Street just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
The teen fell onto a catwalk to the side of a train located on elevated outdoor tracks, according to the NYPD.
Police had initially said the incident was allegedly an instance of subway surfing Thursday evening, but the NYPD later said early Friday morning that the circumstances of the incident were unclear, and that they could not say exactly where the teen fell from.
The teen was transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Queens in critical condition, but was pronounced dead hours later, according to the NYPD.
