BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo State College student was fatally shot Sunday morning at a party less than a mile away from the school, the college and Buffalo Police said.
City police say Royden Cave, 19, of Brooklyn was shot inside a home during some sort of party or gathering on Bird Avenue at around 3:40 a.m.
He was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The president of Buffalo State College, Katherine S. Conway-Turner, says Cave was in his first year as a criminal justice major at the school.
"I am deeply saddened to share with you that Buffalo State College student Royden Cave passed away early Sunday morning," Conway-Turner said in a statement. "A native of Brooklyn, New York, Royden was a 19-year-old freshman criminal justice major.
Buffalo Police informed college officials that Royden was tragically shot at an off-campus gathering early Sunday morning. He was transported to ECMC where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident is currently under investigation by the Buffalo Police Department.
