Outgoing Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said reform measures will be the number one issue for the next commissioner.

Shea is set to retire on Dec. 31, ending a two year run.

Shea said his successor and the Adams administration will have a lot of work to do, which includes examining and adjusting to the package of bills the city council passed aimed at reforming the NYPD.

"When you think back to these series of reforms that were done, that we said we support, but were done hastily and done without the input of law enforcement, and we're dealing with it still today, that's gotta be the number one issue,” Shea said on “Mornings On 1” Tuesday.

One of those measures removed final disciplinary action from the police commissioner. Another cleared the way for people to sue the department over allegations of unreasonable search, seizure, or excessive force.

After his departure, Shea said he will continue working but was not clear about what he would do.
