After a 12-hour standoff, and an even longer manhunt, Niagara Falls Police now have a suspect in custody.
Michael Ciskiewic, 25, is accused of chaining a woman in his basement.
Police found him less than a mile away from the home where he held the woman near Allen Avenue and 24th Street.
He faces multiple charges including kidnapping, rape, assault and burglary.
The victim who was allegedly held against her will for 13 hours was released from the hospital.
Niagara Falls Police say she had no relationship to Ciskiewic.
Police say they were neighbors, but the only reason she answered the door was when he showed up was to see if he was OK.
That's when Ciskiewic allegedly attacked her, then took her back to his home where he locked her in his basement. A police bloodhound followed a blood trail to Ciskiewic's home.
“That’s when we came upon the victim who was chained around her ankles, chained, padlocked, tape around her wrists, looked like she had socks taped into her mouth. And the lieutenant called for the bolt cutters and they cut the chains and that’s when we got her out of the house,” said Chief Kelly Rizzo, Niagara Falls Police Department.
Ciskiewic will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
