In the aftermath of the news that a top DOJ official ordered prosecutors to drop charges against Mayor Eric Adams, Democratic mayoral candidate and former City Comptroller Scott Stringer told NY1 that New Yorkers “want a mayor who is not about chaos.”
“This is a good night for Eric Adams, but I’m not sure it’s a good night for everybody else,” Stringer said. “New York has an unbelievable affordable housing crisis. New York has an education crisis. We’re very concerned about crime and the fact that people are being assaulted on a daily basis. And I think people want a mayor who is not about chaos, but is about fixing the problems facing New York City.”
“I think the good news here is that while this is not a justice story, this is really a story about voters now having the opportunity in just a few months to pick a mayor who they think represents their vision, their competence, their hopes for experience in terms of managing the city,” he said.
