The New York Working Families Party, an influential progressive third party, is encouraging Democratic voters to enter a blank ballot in Tuesday’s presidential primary election.

Similar to movements in previous state primaries this cycle, at issue is President Joe Biden administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas War.

“Tell President Biden we need an immediate ceasefire. Leave your NY Democratic primary ballot blank,” the party said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

A “protest vote” for both Biden and Donald Trump has been watched over the last few primaries as the two candidates head for a 2020 election rematch this fall. Both Biden and Trump have already secured the required number of delegates to be their respective parties’ presumptive nominees. The conventions to officially nominate them will be held over the summer.

Also appearing on the ballot are Democratic candidates Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, who suspended his campaign, and author Mariane Williamson, who exited the race but recently re-entered. Appearing on the Republican ballot besides Trump will be former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, all of whom have suspended their campaigns.

New York provides 91 Republican delegates and 305 Democratic delegates.

New York is a closed primary state, meaning only registered voters in those parties can take part. Early voting for New York’s presidential primary runs through Saturday. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
