A video viewed thousands of times on social media shows several NYPD Officers surrounded by a hostile crowd as they tried to remove a man involved in a verbal dispute inside the Randall’s Island emergency shelter.

People surrounding the officers can be seen on video throwing bottles, cardboard boxes and a backpack that appears to be full.

According to the NYPD, the incident took place last Thursday, and no one was injured. One person was removed from the scene.

New York City is now considering adding metal detectors at migrant shelters to help manage security.

“Because of that video were going to do a review, a review of some of the actions that we want to take because I have to make sure our police department is safe and those residents who are there are safe,” Mayor Eric Adams said during a press briefing Tuesday.

“There’s a full review happening right now, all of security at all our facilities, including Randall’s,” Camille Joseph Varlack, chief of staff to the mayor, said.
