Micah Lasher has left his position as Gov. Kathy Hochul’s director of policy, the aide said Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“For the last 2+ years, I have had the extraordinary honor of being part of @GovKathyHochul ’s team. With enormous pride in what we’ve accomplished, no small amount of sadness about leaving, and excitement about adventures ahead, I have decided today will be my last day,” he wrote. “One of the privileges of the job was getting to know my Governor. I had a unique window into the thoughtfulness @GovKathyHochul brings to everything she does, her work ethic, and her commitment to the people of New York. I learned a ton from her — and will always be #TeamHochul.”

Lasher was appointed by Hochul as director of policy in November 2021, shortly after she took office following Andrew Cuomo’s resignation.

Before that, Lasher was an official in New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration and was chief of staff to the state attorney general.

Lasher did not say what his next endeavor would be, but said “it’s going to take me a few days to get my ducks in a row for what comes next.”
