New York Gov. Kathy Hochul spoke with Spectrum News NY1 Friday about the House of Representatives' decision to expel George Santos, who was the U.S. representative for New York's third congressional district.

Hochul she is in communication with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, New York state Democratic Chair Jay Jacobs and Rep. Gregory Meeks, the Queens County Democratic Party chair who also represents New York’s fifth congressional district in the House.

When asked what she would be looking for in a candidate, Hochul said, “someone that's strong. A strong fighter for Long Island.”
