- How important are absentee ballots? They ‘will decide the race’
After some issues with initial reporting following the primary last month, about 125,000 absentee ballots will be factored in to the ranked-choice voting results Tuesday.
These ballots will be key in the race for mayor, City Comptroller, more than a dozen City Council races.
In the Democratic primary for mayor, at last check, Eric Adams had a narrow lead over Kathryn Garcia, 51.1% to 48.9%, respectively. That means they're separated by fewer than 15,000 votes. And Maya Wiley trails Garcia by only a few hundred votes.
Absentee ballots could make a big difference in who comes out on top.
