NEW YORK — One of the 13 Democratic candidates hoping to become the next mayor of New York City is Isaac Wright Jr. He’s an attorney running on a platform of criminal justice reform and homeownership for all New Yorkers, especially those who live in New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) units.

Wright Jr. joined anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” on Tuesday evening to talk about his campaign and to explain why he decided to throw his hat into the ring.

During the interview, he also talked about his own encounter with the justice system. In 1991, he was convicted on drug charges that would have put him behind bars for life, but his conviction was overturned in 1997 after litigation brought by him and his lawyer. The ABC drama “For Life” was based on his life story.
