NEW YORK — Zephyr Teachout, who previously ran against Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the 2014 Democratic primary, says Cuomo “betrayed the trust of the people of New York,” calling on him to step down as he faces two separate scandals.

A new Quinnipiac poll finds that 58% of New York voters say Cuomo is not honest and trustworthy. In a Thursday night interview with Inside City Hall anchor Errol Louis, Teachout explained that the way Cuomo has handled the allegations of sexual harassment he abused his power.

And although Teachout told NY1 she won’t run for governor again, she predicted someone else will.

“I believe there will be a lot of exciting people who are going to run,” she said. “There’s no shortage of talent in New York state.”

And as an attorney and antitrust expert, Teachout also weighed in on recent hearings on Capitol Hill over strengthening antitrust laws, especially when it comes to big tech companies like Facebook and Google. She said there has recently been support from both sides of the aisle.

“You are just seeing the House and the Senate shift,” she said. “We really can get major new legislation passed in this Congress.”
