Training at Yankee Stadium is usually for baseball players — but this week it's about ballot workers.
The Yankees partnered with the Board of Elections to host a training session for poll workers in the Stadium's Great Hall.
Board of Elections officials say the team approached them about what it could do to help with the election process.
"We are very, very happy to be here today at this gorgeous facility in Yankee Stadium to allow these poll workers a very unique training experience,” said Michael J. Ryan, executive director for the Board of Elections.
Tuesday was the first day of the four-day session for about 200 workers.
"I'm happy to be a part of this, to make a difference, to be able to help people when it comes to voting. This is the first time I've been in Yankee Stadium since I was born and it feels good,” said poll worker trainee Jaleesa Eagle.
The four-day training session is set to wrap up on Friday, just in time for the start of early voting on Saturday.
"To be a productive member of the community, you have to work with your neighbors and community partners. And that's what we're doing here today and we're excited,” said Brian Smith, Yankees senior vice president of corporate and community relations.
