State lawmakers have reached a framework agreement for a one-year extension of the mayor's control of city schools.

Leaders were able to hammer out the final details of the agreement on what was the last scheduled day of the legislative session.

Senate Republicans offered a one-year extension, but they demanded certain transparency measures, including spending reports from city schools.

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie rejected that measure, and reportedly stormed out of a meeting with other legislative leaders and Governor Andrew Cuomo.

It's unclear whether those measures will be included in the final bill.

Mayoral control of schools was set to expire this month.

Lawmakers also reached an agreement on a pension forfeiture bill that would take away the pensions of elected officials convicted of felony charges.

They will reconvene Friday morning to finish voting.
