Governor Andrew Cuomo nominated Rossana Rosado as New York's next Secretary of State.
Rosado replaces Cesar Perales, who has held the position since 2011.
She previously worked for nearly 20 years at El Diario, the country's oldest Spanish Language newspaper, where she was the publisher and CEO before leaving in 2013.
Rosado also served as Vice President for Public Affairs at the city's Health and Hospital's Corporation under former Mayors David Dinkins and Rudy Giuliani.
Governor Cuomo calls Rosado a valuable asset to the Latino community.
Former Secretary of State Perales will be appointed to the Empire State Development Board.
