Two turkeys are spared from the dinner table this Thanksgiving thanks to President Barack Obama.
The gobblers, named "Honest" and "Abe," were pardoned by the president.
The birds are about 18 weeks old, weigh 42 pounds and hail from California.
The pardoning ceremony has been an annual tradition since 1989.
"I confess that Honest looks like good eating, but this is a democracy," Obama said. "Abe is now a free bird. He is TOTUS: the Turkey of the United States."
The turkeys' patriotism extends beyond their presidential names. Honest has a red face and neck, while Abe's crown features more extensive blue splotches.
They'll be spending the rest of their days at a farm in Virginia.
