There’s certainly no shortage of revivals on Broadway this season with “Spamalot” and “Merrily We Roll Along” already playing to cheering crowds. In the spring, get ready for a few more, including the London transfer of Cabaret starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, The Wiz featuring Wayne Brady and Deborah Cox, plus “The Who’s Tommy.” On the play revival front , “Succession” star Jeremy Strong returns to The Main Stem in “An Enemy of the People.” Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber go face-to-face in John Patrick Shanley’s Pulitzer Prize winning parable “Doubt” and comedian Steve Carell will make his Broadway debut opposite Alfred Molina and Anika Noni Rose in a new adaptation of “Uncle Vanya” courtesy of Lincoln Center Theater in April.

Keeping with revivals, over at City Center two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster will play the not so shy princess in “Once Upon A Mattress” at the end of January, which is part of the Encores! series. That’s followed by a revival presentation of “Jelly’s Last Jam” with Tony Award winner Billy Porter. “Jelly’s Last Jam” is the 1992 musical about legendary jazz musician Jelly Roll Morton. The Encores! series concludes in June with a production of the 1997 Tony Award-winning musical “Titanic.”

Also in February, Tony Award winner Laura Benanti will bring her new show to The Minetta Lane Theatre titled “Nobody Cares.” Benanti will share stories you’ve never heard before. She’ll also perform music she’s created alongside Todd Almond.

In April, Broadway superstar Patti LuPone will return to Carnegie Hall with her latest act: ”A Life in Notes: A Personal Musical Memoir On and Off the Stage”. Her concert will feature songs from her decades long career and more!

And finally, heading back downtown to The Perelman Performing Arts Center, don’t miss Tony and Emmy Award winner Laurence Fishburne’s tour de force solo show, “Like They Do In The Movies,” which plays in March. And in June, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” will play at the Perelman Center, but this time set against the backdrop of New York City’s ballroom scene.

And that concludes the list for the category of Frank DiLella’s must sees of 2024!
