With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. “On Stage” host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond.

“Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch”

The first ever revival of “Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch” by the late and great Ossie Davis begins previews at The Music Box Theatre on Sept. 7. The show stars Tony and Grammy Award-winner Leslie Odom, Jr. from “Hamilton” as a preacher who returns home to Georgia to save a local church and its community members. The show’s official opening night is set for Sept. 27.

“Dracula, A Comedy Of Terrors”

Moving to the off-Broadway scene, check out Dracula like you’ve never seen him before in the new 90-minute romp: “Dracula, A Comedy Of Terrors,” The Bram Stoker classic is getting a full on makeover in the new adaptation that promises to be pure camp. The show is co-written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen and features musical theater regular Andrew Keenan-Bolger. “Dracula, A Comedy Of Terrors” begins performances Monday night.

“Death, Let Me Do My Show”

Sticking with off-Broadway but moving a little further downtown, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” creator and star Rachel Bloom is taking center stage in her new solo show, “Death, Let Me Do My Show”. According to press notes, the musical comedy will feature lots of raunchy and escapist material. Bloom begins performances at The Lucille Lortel Theatre on Sept. 6.

At the cabaret

Finally, on the cabaret front, don’t miss original “Rent” star Adam Pascal in concert at 54 Below this weekend.

And Broadway favorite, Tony Yazbeck, will be singing and dancing in Broadway’s Living Room on Sept. 7 and 8.
