“The Tempest”

Free Shakespeare in the Park continues in Central Park with a new musical adaptation of “The Tempest.” The musical is being presented by the Public Works Program, which features an ensemble of professional performers alongside community members from all across the city. The show runs Aug. 27 to Sept. 3.

“Pay The Writer”

Moving to the Pershing Square Signature Center in Midtown, Marcia Cross, Bryan Batt and Ron Canada are headlining in the new play ”Pay The Writer.”

The trio recently stopped by the “On Stage” studio, where Batt described the play.

“It’s about a world-famous novelist, one, like the Norman Mailer of our time, his ex-wife and his high-powered agent and this wonderful relationship we have together at a very, very important moment in his life,” he said.

Ben Crawford at 54 Below

Switching gears to the cabaret scene, Broadway’s final “Phantom of The Opera” Ben Crawford is at 54 Below this weekend. In his new club act titled “Songs I Like to Sing That I Hope You’ll Like to Hear,” Crawford will be performing tunes by Stephen Sondheim, Alan Menken, Hall and Oates and more.

Nicolas King at The Green Room 42

Sticking with cabaret but moving to The Green Room 42, don’t miss crooner Nicolas King on Wednesday night. King returns to the venue with a whole new show exploring the jazzier side of The Great American Songbook.

Kid’s Night on Broadway

On Tuesday, it is Kids’ Night on Broadway. The Broadway League invites kids and teenagers 18 years old and younger to attend one of 17 participating Broadway shows when accompanied by a full paying adult.
