Looking to take in a show but overwhelmed by the amount of choices? Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella will be curating a list of “must-see” shows every week, directing you to the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway and beyond. Here's his picks for this week.

“Life of Pi” and “Peter Pan Goes Wrong”

Catch them before they close: The best-selling novel turned stage show, “Life of Pi” and the hilarious comedy, “Peter Pan Goes Wrong.”

Both are great shows for the entire family.

“Life of Pi” and “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” will play their final performances on July 23.

“Let’s Call Her Patty”

Moving to the off-Broadway scene: television favorite Rhea Perlman and Broadway favorite Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer take center stage in the new play “Let’s Call Her Patty” at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theatre.

According to press notes, this new work by Zarina Shea is a comedy about “what it means to be a mother, a daughter, or anyone in the world doing their best to disentangle life’s mess.”

“The Democracy Project”

“The Democracy Project” is a new site-specific show presented for free at Federal Hall.

The show is a journey through the early days of New York City as the first capital of the newly independent U.S. government, post revolutionary war.

The piece is written by Michael R. Jackson, Larissa FastHorse, Bruce Norris and others. For more information, head to federalhall.org.

New York Stage and Film Festival

Are you looking to take a trip outside the city?

Head on up to Poughkeepsie for the annual New York Stage and Film Festival.

The season kicks off on July 14 with theater fan favorite Joe Iconis and his Family Band.

Other new works set to take shape this summer — a musical adaptation of the classic “A Wrinkle in Time” and a new solo show performed and written by Emmy and Tony Award-winner Laurence Fishburne titled “Like They Do in the Movies”.
