Looking to take in a show but overwhelmed by the amount of choices? Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella will be curating a list of “must-see” shows every week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond. Here's his picks for this week.
“Topdog/Underdog” at the John Golden Theatre
Suzan-Lori Parks’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Topdog/Underdog” will have its final performance on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the John Golden Theatre.
The two-hander features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Corey Hawkins as brothers — and both men are giving master class performances.
“The Old Man and the Pool” at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre
A little further uptown at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center, comedian Mike Birbiglia is holding court and will have the audience both laughing and crying with his latest solo show “The Old Man and the Pool.”
“The Old Man and the Pool” will shutter on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” at the Greenwich House Theatre
Moving to off-Broadway but keeping with solo shows, the fabulous Eddie Izzard is currently tackling Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” in its entirety at the Greenwich House Theatre.
Izzard stops by NY1 to discuss tackling “Great Expectations” on this week's "On Stage."
Tony Yazbeck at 54 Below
Looking at the cabaret scene, musical theater leading man Tony Yazbeck returns to 54 Below.
His show promises new and classic songs promoting faith and hope — even during the darkest of times.
Yazbeck is at 54 Below Jan. 9 and 10.
“Electric Island” at the Green Room 42
Theatre veteran Rachelle Rak is set to bring selections from her new musical “Electric Island” to the Green Room 42 Monday night.
