The story revolves around the spineless hero: the end is near, and only he can save the day. But, he needs help from some of the greatest rock and pop music songwriters -- and maybe Patrick Star -- bringing some absurdity to the pineapple under the sea.
Nickelodeon is producing the show, which opens in Chicago next June then heads to Broadway for the 2016-2017 season.
No word yet on who will play the ocean's most famous fry cook.
