Angi Gonzalez brings more than 15 years of broadcast news and reporting experience to the Spectrum News Washington, D.C., bureau.
She a three-time Emmy award nominee and the recipient of two Ohio Associated Press Media Editors awards for her work in Toledo, Ohio. Angi has built her career covering local news stories in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and New York City.
During the six years she spent in New York, Angi worked as both a TV anchor and reporter for NY1 and covered a variety of stories that gained national attention, including the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on New Yorkers. While she primarily covered breaking news for NY1, Angi also spent time doing investigative pieces and consumer reporting on issues impacting NY1 viewers. Born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area, her position at the bureau brings her back to her political roots. Before moving into her journalism career, Angi traveled around the country and abroad as a press advance representative for the White House and U.S. Department of Labor.
In her spare time, Angi loves to spend time with family, including her three nieces and nephews and is a “dog mom” to Sophie. She is a huge animal lover and enjoys stopping to meet pets while out on news stories. Angi will provide political news coverage from Washington on issues and lawmakers from Maine, Massachusetts and Hawaii.
