Angi Gonzalez joined NY1 in 2015 as an anchor and reporter, after spending the previous three years as an anchor at the NBC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio.
During her time in the Midwest she was nominated for two Emmys and honored with an AP-Ohio award for continuing coverage, and she served as a news contributor for several national cable news shows.
In 2012, Angi was also selected to report for several stations at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, and she traveled to Colorado to contribute to FOX21's Murrow Award winning news coverage of the Waldo Canyon Fire.
Angi started her career at the NBC affiliate in Hagerstown, MD in 2005. She started off as the morning reporter, was then named Noon and 5 p.m. anchor, later served as morning anchor for three years, and left after two years as the prime time anchor.
Before working in news, Angi worked in several political positions as a Press Advance Representative for the White House and Department of Labor.
Angi loves covering human interest stories that highlight when community members go above and beyond the call of duty. She also enjoys helping residents with consumer issues.
She is an avid animal lover and has reportedly extensively on issues related to animal cruelty.
Angi and her dog, Sophie, love visiting the parks across Queens and can often be found at a local dog park.
She originally hails from the Washington, D.C. area and still has family living in Northern Virginia.
Angi has a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Michigan State University but roots for the Wolverines as she has an undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
