Shazia Khan has her finger on the pulse of New York. As a NY1 reporter, she's covered everything from the September 11th attacks and their aftermath, to cultural and lifestyle stories, to arts and human interest, to general news.

She has moderated and served as host and panelist for a wide range of community programs. In 2005, she served as mistress of ceremonies at Gracie Mansion to help launch Immigrant History Week with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Shazia joined NY1 news as a news assistant and worked her way up to the ranks of reporter, fulfilling a childhood dream.

A second generation Indian-American, the Westchester County native graduated from New York University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. In 2006 she won a South Asian Journalists award for her profile of the Bangladeshi community in New York City.

She also created the popular "Got it Made in New York" holiday gift guide series in 2011.

Shazia credits her accomplishments to the support of her parents, Rasheed and Shamsa Khan.
