Disabled NYCHA tenant Sandra Kinloch no longer needs to read between the lines when parking in her assigned spot for people with disabilities at her residence at The Polo Grounds Towers in Harlem.
"If it's wasn't for channel 1, I'd be lost," she said. "So I'm very grateful and so happy that everything now has been taken care of!"
A confusing situation was cleared up after Kinloch turned to NY1 For You for help. Last week, we told you how Kinloch, who has a parking permit for people with disabilities and sticker to Park in NYCHA's Polo Grounds lot, received a $180 ticket for parking in a disabled spot.
"I don't deserve this ticket," she said.
Kinloch was convinced the ticket was the result of a confusing numbering system in NYCHA's lot. Although, she was assigned space number 55 there was no space labeled number 55. In fact, we found none of the disabled parking spots had numbers at all.
After we went back and forth with NYCHA, they finally realized their mistake and took immediate action.
The very next day, NYCHA had numbers painted on the disabled spots and sent a letter to the Department of Finance asking them to dismiss Kinloch's ticket.
"My hat goes off to channel 1, I would be lost without you guys and I really, really appreciate it," she said.
