North Country Republican Elise Stefanik is one of two New Yorkers expected to deliver primetime speeches at tonight’s Republican National Convention.
The other is Long Island Republican Representative Lee Zeldin.
When Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter asked Congresswoman Stefanik whether she thinks the Republicans will field a female presidential candidate in 2024, she said she is currently focused on 2020.
"I think we've seen some amazing women. Nikki Haley did a tremendous job, Ronna McDaniel who is chairwoman of the RNC, the number of women cabinet secretaries, and we have the highest number of Republican women ever running for Congress and I've been integral in leading those recruiting efforts. I'm focused on 2020. I'm very proud of the number of Republican women running coast to coast."
Stefanik will face off against Democrat Tedra Cobb in November.
