COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department announced a new partnership that will reduce barriers for young people wanting to play golf.
The partnership with Youth on Course, a national nonprofit organzation, will reduce the cost of playing golf for ages 6 to 18 in the City of Columbus.
There are a few select golf courses with specified days and times that young people can play for just $5 with a Youth on Course membership, which costs $40 annually.
The five golf courses, as well as the times, involved in the partnership are as follows:
- Airport Golf Course, 900 N. Hamilton Rd. in Columbus. Any day after the last tee time.
- Mentel Memorial Golf Course, 6005 Alkire Rd. in Galloway. Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. until close.
- Raymond Memorial Golf Course, 3860 Trabue Rd. in Columbus. Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. until close.
- Turnberry Golf Course, 1145 Clubhouse Ln. in Pickerington. Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. until close. Weekends and holidays from 3 p.m. until close.
- Wilson Road Golf Course, 1900 Wilson Rd. in Columbus. Monday through Thursday any time. Weekends from 2 p.m. until close.
“Sports like the game of golf teach youth important life skills—sportsmanship, patience and discipline—that extend well beyond the course,” said Bernita Reese, director of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. “Golf also promotes physical activity and quality time outdoors. With this partnership, we’re proud to make the game more accessible to young people in Columbus.”
Individuals can register on the Youth on Course website, and once they do, they can book a tee time with one of the participating Columbus courses. There is also financial assistance available when signing up for the Youth on Course membership.
